HAHA..i know exactly what you`re implying...so true!!Don`t get wrong,I enjoy the 70`s,it`s rockin`indeed. But,The ones that worship those years and say that nothing from the later80`s and 90`s was worth their time, are simply not giving it what they know it deserves.Jerry`s weathered, raspy and seasoned voice alone gives character that puts the song into life`s struggles,as if he`s living out the words to each song on stage...and don`t even get me started on the unique sounds he tickeled our ears with guitars like ;Bolt and Tiger.Strong performances from a Man who cared about the people in the stands...everynight.

You've said it! I knew there were other heads on here. So many of Garcia/Hunters' songs speak from a looking back, imparting the ancient wisdom to the kids sort of place. They mean SO much more when Jerry sings them with AGE and EXPERIENCE in his voice. I mean really, Black Peter, Stella, Warf Rat, To Lay me Down, etc..., etc... you just BELIEVE these songs more the older Jerry got.
As far as his voice being 'shot' or 'gone'... I am going to laugh now. His voice became one of the most potent musical instruments this planet ever heard after his coma. Those who can't hear it just lack discernment. http://www.archive.org/details/gd88-07-17.sbd-matrix.braverman.10081.sbeok.shnf give this one a listen if you want to hear how kick ass Jerry was getting as he aged.

Branford does add a nice touch. Here’s a link to your show (CM notes that the popping sound is from Billy’s kick drum) http://www.archive.org/details/gd1993-12-10.sbd.miller.83770.flac16
Jerry sounds strong on this version from the fall 1990 Europe tour with Vince and Bruce :

A good solid delivery: http://www.archive.org/details/gd89-04-11.sbd.miller.15109.sbeok.shnf
And a favorite for personal reasons : http://www.archive.org/details/gd1989-03-31.sbd.miller.32349.sbeok.flac16

The Greensboro show from 3/31/89 does have a proper Moon.I`ve got this show in my collection, but never realized how good this version was, thanx for the info!..I`d rather be with "Him!"...
Also, before it slipps my mind.A must hear SOTM,from Oakland,12/28/91....Jerry dances with the idea of coming out of space into SOTM,with teasing the first few chords.Bobby then dives head 1st into Miracle setting Jerry up for the classic Miracle>Moon!Jerry`s guitar work during this song is simply and utterly beautiful! One for the ages.
